This is a temporary page while the new site is finalized and launched... Located in Yarra Place South Melbourne, The Base is a purpose built, contemporary recording facility, fully staffed with successful and talented people and equipped with an excellent selection of classic and modern equipment. The tracking and control rooms sound great acoustically, and feature a Yamaha C7 Grand Piano and large format Amek analogue recording console. What sets The Base apart is the people. Everyone knows you can buy high quality digital gear and make a record in the lounge room - and many successful artists have done just that - but they also had talented people 'pushing the buttons'. The human element is the biggest factor in making a great record, and The Base not only has great rooms and gear, but also the staff with the musical taste, experience and technical chops to achieve the artists' musical vision. Being a purpose built studio The Base is capable of, and available for, any Project, EP or Album. Singer/songwriters with a single acoustic guitar or piano part, vocalists with a beat to sing or rap over, 'live in the studio' Band recordings and fully produced, multi-tracked albums are all regular gigs for The Base. With the studio being so flexible, staffed, equipped and maintained to such a high level it can cater very easily to the needs and requirements of any artist. The Base is also available to freelance engineers and independent producers as Dry Hire. In these cases, in-house Producer & Engineer Phil Threlfall often volunteers as assistant, and his knowledge of the rooms and the console is a valuable addition to any project.
